When dad Daniel De La Cruz walked into the living room to check on his toddlers, he was expecting to see them playing.

But he was not prepared for what was actually happening. Instead, he caught a hilarious moment of his one-year-old triplets working together in a way that parents of young children know all too well: one of them was being used as a stepladder to climb onto the couch. Since his Instagram reel was posted, it has received over 231,000 likes.

De La Cruz’s husband, Matt O’Brien, 37, shared the now-viral Instagram video with the simple and frantic caption, “send help.” He spoke to Newsweek about the clip and how it perfectly encapsulates their toddlers’ energies.

The footage shows one toddler perched on the back of his brother, reaching for the couch seat. As soon as De La Cruz walked in, O’Brien said he “whipped his phone out to catch as much of it as he could” as the moment unfolded.

A Sibling Collaboration

According to O’Brien, the moment was a complete surprise. The triplets, who just turned one, are naturally very playful with one another.

“They giggle and babble with each other all the time,” O’Brien shared. “They are starting to copy one another and collaborate in small, playful ways, but this instance takes the cake.”

The video quickly resonated with parents everywhere, many of whom could relate to the mischievous creativity of young children. The comments section of the post filled with a mix of amusement, awe—and a little bit of anxiety.

“I am so happy my toddler twins have not figured this out yet,” one person wrote, while another person added, “Brothers helping each other up, you love to see it.”

Other users were simply captivated by the toddlers’ cuteness and teamwork.

“Wow! What cuties! Just precious! Also into everything I’m sure,” a commenter said. Another offered a humorous prediction for the future: “You got a serious war pending to happen soon. These two will turn that house into their personal workshop soon.”

The video’s sudden popularity has been a new experience for the family. O’Brien revealed that he and his husband “are not trying to be influencers,” but for now, they are enjoying the one-hit wonder.

The video serves as an example of how the unpredictable and funny moments of toddler life can become a source of entertainment for millions. It’s a peek into the everyday adventures of parenting and a testament to the strong bond between these siblings—even this tiny.
