Danielle Fishel does it all, from hosting a podcast to acting and dancing — but when it comes to cleaning, she’s found a genius way to share the load.
“My least favorite thing to do, cleaning wise, is putting away laundry,” Fishel, 44, exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting her partnership with Lysol to refresh her home this spring cleaning season with the help of Lysol Lavender & Cotton Blossom. “I don’t mind doing the laundry, but for some reason, putting it away just takes so much time.”
The Boy Meets World alum noted, “But the good news is that my favorite clean up chore is having clean counters, so the [Lysol] disinfecting wipes are perfect.”
Fishel explained that her countertops “always smell good” and they’re “always clean,” which helps bring her mentality clarity.
“I don’t like to see a bunch of stuff all over my counters, or fingerprints or sticky stuff. So I always have disinfectant wipes on me, and I keep them in the car as well,” she shared.
Fishel — who shares sons Adler, 6, and Keaton, 4, with husband Jensen Karp — told Us that the peace of mind cleaning brings her is something she’s working on passing down to her children.
“I think it helps for them to understand why sometimes I’m like, ‘Oh, OK, guys, listen, can we look around the house for a second? See this?’” she said. “I point out the things that are bothering me, that are making me feel overstimulated.”
Fishel added, “I feel like showing them [that] these things are making mommy’s insides feel like this, ‘Ahhh.’ We need to clean it up so that mommy’s insides feel like this, ‘Ah.’ They’re like, ‘Oh, OK.’”
She told Us that breaking down the emotions and stress relief that comes with a clean house has done wonders for how her kids relate to doing chores.
“I’m like, ‘Mommy’s much nicer and more fun when my insides feel good, and right now I feel crazy,’” Fishel continued. “So it’s actually been really great, because my kids, since I’ve started explaining it to them that way, my kids are much more willing to help me clean up, and I will take all the help I can get.”
While Fishel is happy to accept a helping hand from her boys at home, when she’s on the road for the Dancing With the Stars Tour she is ready and willing to do it herself. (Fishel competed on season 34 of DWTS in 2025 and is now one of the special guest cohosts for various dates.)
“Lysol is the perfect partner to be with me on tour and at home,” Fishel told Us. “Because on tour, it was my first time ever sharing a tiny little space on a bus with like 10 people, and we had this tiny little kitchen.”
The “Boy Meets Pod” podcast cohost called herself “lucky” because DWTS pro Daniella Karagach would “make me breakfast every single morning” during the first leg of the tour.
“Our little routine was that she would make breakfast and I would clean it up,” Fishel recalled. “So we didn’t want to have any germs, which means Lysol [was the ticket as it] kills 99.9 percent of germs when used as directed.”
Fishel remembered that she would “clean up after every breakfast” using Lysol and there would be a “deliciously yummy smelling lavender and cotton blossom bus, even after we cooked.”
The actress noted it was “not a bad trade off at all,” being on cleaning duty when someone else was fixing her meals.
“And when you’re sharing one bathroom with 10 people on a bus, you want some lavender and cotton blossoms. Let me tell you,” Fishel said with a laugh.
