A dispute over a bronze medal stripped from Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles and awarded to a Romanian competitor is headed to court.

Chiles, now 24, finished third in the floor exercise at the 2024 Paris Olympics only to have the medal given to Ana Maria Barbosu after the Romanian team appealed the score.

But Switzerland’s supreme court said Thursday that its judges have sent the case back to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to examine new evidence.

At issue is whether the US challenged Chiles’ judged score quickly enough after the results came in to overturn the previous decision that awarded the metal to a competator.
