A black pup and his lookalike feline sister have become unlikely internet stars after a short but memorable clip shared on Instagram captured a sibling moment that many viewers found impossible to forget.

The viral video was posted in March under the username @an1maluvr and shows the dog lying on the floor beside the cat. Rather than simply relaxing next to his feline companion, the dog can be seen gently nibbling on her, a motion that closely resembles chewing on a piece of corn.

The cat remains beside him as the unusual interaction plays out, creating a moment that quickly grabbed attention across social media.

The clip’s caption played an important role in its popularity, adding humor and context to the scene. “When you ask my dog what he’d do all day if he couldn’t nibble on his sister like a corncob,” the caption reads. It continues with a light-hearted conclusion: “Everyone has their vice I guess.”

The poster, 28-year-old Remy, from New York, explained that they have three rescues; two cats and one dog, and their cat (Jolene) and dog (Jocko) have grown to be inseparable.

Remy told Newsweek: “They nap together, birdwatch together, and even share the same water bowl. More often than not you can find Jocko ‘corncobbing’ Jolene, giving her tiny nibbles out of love and affection.

“Jocko and Jolene are twins. They have the same black coat with a white patch on their chests.”

Cats and dogs have historically been portrayed as enemies, but this narrative isn’t true.

A study carried out by Italian scientists and published in 2020 in the journal PLOS ONE surveyed 1,270 pet owners who own both a cat and a dog and found that the two can easily cohabit without much conflict.

Findings from the study showed that over 64 percent of the cats and dogs living together also played together, 58 percent chased each other and 41 percent fought. Almost two-thirds of the pets sometimes playfully “ambushed” each other.

After being shared, the video quickly gained traction on the platform. As of now, it has received more than 441,000 views and 43,200 likes, numbers that reflect just how widely the clip resonated with users.

One user, Jesserz_777, commented: “How freaking cute are they??!! And their coat’s are beautiful!!!”

Lewisplett said: “He loves her so much.”

Lacy_h72 added: “The cat being completely unbothered is frying me.”
