President Donald Trump on Monday publicly disclosed that Rep. Neal Dunn, a Florida Republican, had received what Trump described as a terminal medical diagnosis earlier this year, saying Dunn “would be dead by June” without treatment.

Trump made the remarks during an impromptu appearance at the White House ahead of a Kennedy Center event, prompting visible surprise from House Speaker Mike Johnson, who said the details had not been public.

Trump said Dunn had a “terminal diagnosis” involving a “really bad heart” and that doctors had told him “there was nothing they could do.”

The president said he then contacted White House and military physicians, adding that Dunn was taken into surgery within hours. Johnson later said the lawmaker’s condition has since improved, crediting the medical care Dunn received.

This is a breaking news story. Updates to follow.
