WASHINGTON — Law enforcement nabbed more than 80 suspects in the nation’s capital Wednesday night as a part of President Trump’s war on crime — with suspected killers, sex offenders and drug distributors among those in custody, a White House official told The Post.

The latest 81 arrests bring the total to 1,841 apprehensions since Trump ordered federal agents into the District’s streets Aug. 7.

Names of the arrested suspects have not been released due to them being the subject of ongoing federal investigations.

Two of the suspects arrested Wednesday were wanted on murder raps, according to the official, with one accused of shooting and killing a victim during an armed robbery this past July and a second wanted for second-degree murder after allegedly shooting a victim during an argument.

Another apprehended suspect allegedly travelled to DC to engage in sexual activity with a minor and was identified by federal authorities through an online chat.

Two more were arrested on charges of failing to register as sex offenders.

One suspect was previously convicted of second-degree child sex abuse and sentenced to eight years in prison, while the second was previously convicted of second-degree rape and sentenced to five years behind bars.

Also busted was a suspect accused of possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute — and four illegal immigrants with previous criminal histories including child rape and identity theft.

“Thanks to President Trump, some of the most dangerous criminals who have committed heinous crimes have been removed from the streets of Washington, DC. For far too long, these criminals have been able to commit crime after crime without any accountability – but President Trump has restored law and order to our nation’s capital,” White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers said.

“As a result of President Trump’s tough-on-crime policies, federal law enforcement operations have removed nearly 2,000 dangerous criminals, lethal drugs, and deadly weapons from the city which is a win for all DC residents and visitors.”

DC recorded 274 homicides in 2023, the most since 1997.

The number of homicides in the city of 700,000 dipped to 187 in 2024 and 104 as of Sep. 3 of this year.

But the capital has been experiencing an uptick in unaccompanied teenagers roaming the city and threatening residents, so much so that Mayor Muriel Bowser implemented curfews in several neighborhoods.

Bowser admitted Aug. 27 that Trump’s moves have resulted in a major decrease in carjackings.

“We greatly appreciate the surge of officers that enhance what MPD has been able to do in this city,” the mayor told reporters, later adding: “The difference between this 20-day period of this federal surge and last year represents a 87% reduction in carjackings.”

Trump has indicated he wants to send National Guard troops — who have not been carrying out arrests in DC, but have helped protect federal property — to other cities across the US, including New Orleans, Chicago and New York.

The president has said he wants Democrat governors to ask for assistance before he sends in the troops — but promised that crime could be cleaned up “very quickly” if the leaders enlisted federal help.
