The Kansas City Chiefs are sitting on top of the NFL with an impressive 10-1 record, having suffered their first loss last week against the Buffalo Bills.
Many experts and pundits call the Chiefs the best team in the NFL. But do they really deserve it?
Obviously, there’s no denying their pedigree. Kansas City has won two Super Bowls in a row and three in the last five years. Additionally, they have the deadly combo of two-time MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes and record-breaking tight end Travis Kelce.
Still, there’s no question that the Chiefs haven’t been as impressive this season as they were the previous two.
In Kansas City’s 10 victories, only two of them were by two scores. Additionally, three of them were by less than a touchdown. Compare this to last season where a majority of their games were won by multiple scores.
This was most recently exemplified in the Chiefs’ narrow 30-27 victory over the Carolina Panthers, who many consider one of the worst franchises in the NFL.

This was largely because of excellent play by Carolina quarterback Bryce Young, who completed 21 passes for 263 yards and a touchdown. This nearly matched the legendary Mahomes, who recorded 27 completions for 269 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 60 yards.
Additionally, the Panthers dominated the Chiefs on defense, sacking Mahomes five times. In the end, Kansas City was able to squeak out a victory with an impressive drive by Mahomes and a clutch kick from Spencer Shrader.

Still, if a team is nearly undefeated and truly that good, they shouldn’t barely beat a team that’s 3-8. And fans are taking notice.
Multiple NFL fans online called out the Chiefs, including one saying they’re “the most fraudulent 10-1 team ever.”
Another fan called them the worst 10-1 team to have ever played football.
Adam Best, founder of Chiefs’ fan page Arrowhead Addict, also summed up the frustration, saying, “Kansas City Chiefs 24. Division II College Team 23.”
Another fan replied, saying, “Kansas City Chiefs 27. My Local High School Team 25.”
In the end, there’s only one statistic that really matters: Wins. It’s why people call Tom Brady the GOAT and not Peyton Manning. Right now, there’s not a single team this season that has more wins than Kansas City
If other teams want to prove that they’re truly better than the Chiefs, they’ll have to do it in the playoffs. I’m looking at you, Buffalo.
