Flavor Flav has offered to host the U.S. women’s hockey team in Las Vegas after the Olympic gold medalists declined an invitation to attend President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address.
In a post on Bluesky, the rapper wrote, “If the USA Women’s Hockey team wants a real celebration and invite…I’ll host them in Las Vegas. Do some nice dinners and shows and good times.
“I’m sure I can get a hotel and airline to help me out here and celebrate these women for real for real.”
He followed up by confirming, “Formal invitation to the hockey team sent…if any people with connections to the hockey team wanna have them email my team my bio. I’m for real.”
The invitation comes days after the U.S. women’s team, which defeated Canada to win gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, said it would not attend Trump’s address, citing scheduling conflicts.
In a statement previously reported by Newsweek, the team said, “We are sincerely grateful for the invitation extended to our gold medal–winning U.S. Women’s Hockey Team and deeply appreciate the recognition of their extraordinary achievement.
“Due to the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments following the Games, the athletes are unable to participate. They were honored to be included and are grateful for the acknowledgment.”
Trump had referenced the women’s team during a phone call with the men’s squad following their own gold medal victory, saying, “I must tell you, we’re going to have to bring the women’s team, you do know that?”
He added that he “probably would be impeached” if he did not invite them as well, according to prior reporting by Newsweek.
The Hype Man
Flav, whose real name is William Drayton Jr., has become a visible supporter of Team USA athletes in recent years.
He previously served as a sponsor and hype man for the U.S. women’s water polo team during the Paris 2024 Olympics, saying at the time, “I’m there to hype them up.
“I’m there to try to get them into that spirit of winning that fourth gold medal.”
Users React
His post quickly drew praise from Bluesky users, many of whom framed the offer as a show of support for women athletes.
One user wrote, “You’re exactly what this mess needs right now. CONSTANT sunshine. Thank you for being YOU, sir.”
Another added, “These women worked as hard as those men, except much harder, only because they’re women! I’m 70 years old and SO sick of decades of misogyny and utter disrespect for women from mediocre men.
“Thank you, Flav, for some good news today, you’re a feminist, and we love you so!!”
“Can count on Flavor Flav to do what’s right!” one commenter declared.
Flav also noted in his original post that he hoped to involve sponsors, with many already coming forward to pitch in.
The women’s team has reportedly accepted the rapper’s offer, ready to celebrate their win and empower women along the way—with a little help from a new friend.
