The Las Vegas Raiders are in the midst of finding a trading partner for star wide receiver Davante Adams.

Adams requested a trade from the Raiders last week and hasn’t suited up for the team since as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

More news: Raiders’ Davante Adams Trade Could Happen Very Soon

While head coach Antonio Pierce called the Adams situation “status quo” at the beginning of the week, on Wednesday, he had a slightly different approach.

“Davante is doing well. Hamstring is getting there. He is getting closer and closer to getting back on the field, back on the practice field. Good spirits. We talked. Everything is good,” Pierce said.

“He’s still a Raider. He’s never not been a Raider.”

Pierce added: “When he is healthy and he can play, we’ll play him. He’s just not healthy right now, and he’s getting closer. That’s the good part. He’s working every day to get that hamstring right. He’s in the right headspace, mentally. We talked recently and had a good conversation. He’s ready to play football.”

While Pierce alluded to Adams potentially suiting up for the Raiders again, for now, trade talks continue.

On Thursday, former Raiders fullback and executive Marcel Reece joined Kay Adams on the “Up & Adams” show to discuss the situation with Davante Adams. While he didn’t want to give too much insider information, he did have an interesting comment about a “sneaky team” entering the sweepstakes.

“I’m gonna tell you this, because I’m a little closer to this situation than I should be,” Reece said. “But there’s a couple teams, I think there’s a sneaky team that a lot of people aren’t talking about, that could come in late.”

Adams asked if the “sneaky team” rhymes with ‘Shmills.’

Reece could only laugh and called Adams the sneaky one.

Reece appeared to hint at the Buffalo Bills being a sneaky team in the Adams sweepstakes. The Bills traded Stefon Diggs and let Gave Davis walk in free agency this past offseason, and have struggled to replace their production so far this season.

Khalil Shakir leads the way for receivers with 18 catches for 230 yards. Rookie wideout Keon Coleman is second with 175 receiving yards, and Mack Hollins is third among wide receivers with 73 yards.

Adding a player like Adams — a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time First-Team All-Pro — would be the perfect addition to a Bills team that has lost two consecutive games after starting the season 3-0.

At this point, opposing teams reportedly aren’t willing to meet the asking price of a second-round pick for Adams. As the trade deadline nears, maybe a team like the Bills will swoop in and get the best player available.
