Two ex-WWE titleholders have once again captured AEW gold. FTR, formerly known as The Revival in WWE, challenged Brody King and Bandido of the Brodido tag team for the AEW World Tag Team Championship on Saturday. The title match was featured on the “AEW Full Gear 2025” card, FTR scored the win to become three-time AEW tag team titleholders.
The reign of Brodido ends at 90 days. The team surprised many professional wrestling fans after being formed once King’s Hounds of Hell teammate Buddy Matthews suffered an injury. Many praised Brodido for not feeling thrown together, which King told Newsweek Sports can be attributed to his real-life friendship with Bandido.

FTR Wins AEW Gold Again
Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler of FTR first won AEW gold at “All Out 2020.” They defeated Kenny Omega and “Hangman” Adam Page to capture the title. That reign lasted two months before dropping the AEW World Tag Team Championship to The Young Bucks.
FTR didn’t regain the title until the April 5, 2023 episode of “AEW Dynamite,” when they defeated Austin and Colten Gunn of The Gunns. FTR had a longer reign that go-around, holding onto the championship for 185 days. They were defeated by Ricky Starks and Big Bill during the Oct. 7, 2023 episode of “AEW Collision,” losing the tag team hardware in the process.
In recent months, Harwood and Wheeler have returned to their heel characters. They added Stokely Hathaway as a mouthpiece and as a manager to assist them during matches.
Many believe AEW is building towards the eventual return of Adam Copeland, who will be seeking revenge on FTR after they attacked his wife. Copeland was last seen on AEW TV telling Christian Cage that he can’t keep putting his family in danger.
