Making headlines this morning is a major report featuring some of Perth’s most prominent powerbrokers, who say the city needs to embrace apartment living, diversify its economy and shed its “Wait Awhile” approach if it is to compete on the global stage.

The Powering Perth – The path to global recognition report by RSM Australia comprised feedback from 19 experts across business, property development, arts and culture, education and government.
The research found participants believed Perth would need to carve out its identity, build more density, reduce its reliance on the resources sector and accelerate the green energy transition to position WA as a global powerhouse.

Meanwhile, a group of well-known Fremantle musicians has banded together to urge federal Labor to take a stronger stance on the Israel-Gaza conflict.
Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker and guitarist Dom Simper are among 113 Fremantle artists urging the local federal Labor MP, Josh Wilson, to challenge his party’s positions on the conflict or follow his former caucus colleague Fatima Payman and resign from the party.
The letter, delivered to Wilson’s Fremantle office on Wednesday, was created and signed by musicians and artists living in Wilson’s electorate. These include Parker and Simper and other prominent Fremantle musicians Stella Donnelly, John Butler and Jake Webb of Methyl Ethyl.
