A mom from Texas has shared footage of what happened when her son’s friend turned up at her house unannounced.

Lindy Hatridge (@lindymhatridge) posted the video on TikTok, which shows her son’s friend, Daniel Lee, strolling into the kitchen, grabbing a cold chicken strip and playing air basketball. Her son, Jackson, wasn’t at home.

What may seem unusual to viewers is just another day in Hatridge’s household. She explained that 20-year-old Lee, a longtime friend of her son, frequently stops by when he’s not home.

“It’s not uncommon for him to pop in at any given time of the day when he’s in from college. Daniel and my son have grown up going to school and playing soccer together. He knows he is welcome in our home, and we hope the visits continue! He’s a fun and great kid,” Hatridge told Newsweek.

As for Jackson, who had already returned to Frisco after the holidays, the news that his friend stopped by wasn’t a surprise either. What did shock him though, was the fact the moment had gone viral.

“We don’t always tell him when he comes over because Daniel comes by often when he’s back home,” Hatridge said. “What he was surprised about was the TikTok video that had gone viral! What people see in the video… is very common in our house.”

As well as over 26 million views, Hatridge’s clip clocked up over 83,000 comments, with many obsessed with the dynamic.

“As a black mom of a son, you have no idea how this warms my heart! Our boys need more of you in this world,” one commenter wrote.

“Boy mom here, once u feed them they’re yours too,” another joked.

“That means you’re the safe house. It’s a title only for the best,” a third wrote.

Among the positive comments were a few users who were “appalled” by Lee walking in and treating the house as though it were his own.

For Hatridge and her husband, his visits are more than welcome.

“I feel like I’m still in the loop of keeping up with those kids who my son has grown up with. It gives us an opportunity to support what we know their parents expect—good grades; making good decisions; staying on track in life. I know that Daniel’s family will do the exact same thing for my kids when they walk through their door,” she said.
