The New York Giants had a scary moment in the third quarter of “Thursday Night Football” when quarterback Jaxson Dart had to go to the sideline to get checked out in the medical tent for a possible concussion. The rookie had a strong showing up to that point, leading the Giants to a 27-17 lead over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Backup quarterback Russell Wilson entered the game in relief of Dart, and he immediately made a play that caught the ire of Giants head coach Brian Daboll. On 3rd-and-9 from the Philadelphia 42-yard line, Wilson threw a pass that landed wildly off target for his intended receiver.

Giants fans frustrated with Wilson’s pass started booing when the punt unit came onto the field. The errant pass killed what had been a 48-yard drive.

Fans on social media had strong reactions to Daboll’s behavior after Wilson’s mistake.

“He’s desperate for his Job security lol. @Giants need to fire him. He only relies on his rookie QB,” argued a fan.

“Funniest thing that’s happened at a football game since Antonio Brown checked out,” wrote a fan.

“Impulsive coach cares more about his job safety than Jaxson Dart’s concussion wellness,” posted another.

“Brian Daboll is desperate and a garbage coach, reeks of unprofessionalism,” commented a poster.

“The way Brian Daboll is acting towards Russell Wilson is sad.. hate a coach who plays favorites. You have to be a leader of all the players,” wrote another.

“Daboll lobbying a doctor might not be the most authentic look the league desires,” argued a fan.

Fortunately for Daboll, Dart passed the concussion protocol and was able to come back into the game. If he didn’t it could have been a rough end of the night for Wilson and Daboll against the 4-1 Eagles.
