A glitzy Palm Springs pool party featuring The Chainsmokers descended into chaos Sunday when bottles were hurled into the crowd, leaving nine people injured and seven rushed to the hospital.
Police working the event responded to a reported assault at about 1:40 a.m., with additional officers called in to secure the area as the incident was investigated.
A dispute involving an unknown number of people escalated before bottles were thrown into the crowd, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.
Seven people were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries involving broken glass, while another two were treated at the scene.
The violence erupted following a set by electronic duo The Chainsmokers during Splash House, a three-day music festival held across several Palm Springs venues.
The festival runs through Sunday at the Hilton Palm Springs, Renaissance Palm Springs Hotel and the Saguaro Palm Springs, with another weekend scheduled for Aug. 14 through Aug. 16, according to the Desert Sun.
Most performances take place between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the three hotels.
Splash House also holds an official after-party at the Palm Springs Air Museum from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. on the first two days of the festival.
