Grammy-nominated, chart-topping rapper Sexyy Red has a lot ahead of her this month. On April 10th, the “SkeeYee” rapper is set to make her Coachella debut, followed by her album release on her birthday, April 15. Ahead of those monumental personal achievements, the soon-to-be 28-year-old returned to her hometown of St. Louis, MO, to build community and empower her city by launching her Giving is Sexyy Foundation.
Speaking to Newsweek about the importance of her philanthropic efforts, Sexyy Red said, “St. Louis raised me, so being able to come back and give back means everything.”
Over Easter, Sexyy Red brought a day of festivities to Prince Beauty Supply, where children held an Easter Egg hunt and enjoyed a variety of activities, including bounce houses, a petting zoo, obstacle courses, horseback riding, mechanical rides, and more. This day was more than just a fun Easter excursion for the children, as it marked a commitment for Sexyy Red.
Giving Is Sexyy was founded to uplift and empower children facing economic and emotional hardship, beginning in St. Louis before growing into a nationwide effort. The foundation serves families navigating some of life’s most difficult circumstances.
“Giving Is Sexyy is bigger than one event. It’s about building something real for my community,” the multiplatinum rapper told Newsweek.
Growing up in St. Louis, Sexyy Red saw firsthand what it means to navigate life without a safety net. In her community—and across the country—countless children face challenges beyond their control, from housing instability to emotional trauma and inconsistent support systems.
At the heart of the foundation is the core belief that no child should be forced to shoulder adult responsibilities. Its work is guided by three core commitments: helping single parents cover rent, childcare, and essential expenses; creating mentorship and educational opportunities for children with incarcerated parents; and providing emergency housing, counseling, and recovery resources for families fleeing domestic violence.
For Sexyy Red, her hometown is equally as important as her achievements on the charts. “I want to keep lifting up families and showing my city what we’re capable of,” the Missouri MC added.
