The moment a French Bulldog puppy “chose” her owner has melted hearts on social media in a viral video.
Megan Lasuzzo, 35, from north Texas, posted the now-viral clip to TikTok earlier this month of her dog Olive as a puppy making a beeline toward her amidst a pile of dozing littermates.
“Olive is a French Bulldog, and she’s 5 years old,” Lasuzzo told Newsweek. “We got her during COVID and when we first met, she walked right over her brothers and sisters to get to me. At that moment, I knew she was my puppy.”
In the video, a baby Olive pushed her way over a cozy pile of sleeping pups, climbing across to reach Lasuzzo, her head popping up with immediate interest. The video’s text overlay reads: “When you know you know.”
The love affair only continued when Lasuzzo held Olive in her arms, receiving lots of joyful licks and love.
While puppies aren’t fully developed, studies have shown their behavior can indicate their personalities when they grow up. A 2022 study found that puppies who show more boldness and curiosity and are willing to approach new objects and people are generally less fearful as adults and grow into more confident dogs.
“She’s been with me ever since—five wonderful years now,” Lasuzzo said. “I shared the video on TikTok because it’s one of those small, sweet memories that still makes me smile. I never expected the response it got, but it’s been so lovely seeing how many people connected with it.”
This isn’t the first time a dog has “picked” their owner. Earlier this year, a golden retriever puppy melted hearts when he made it clear who he was going home with, while an adorable Cocker Spaniel puppy made his interest in his new owner clear in another sweet viral video.
