Nearly a year after saying goodbye to Southern California and hello to Park City, Utah, Jasmine Roth is finding peace with her new reality.

“The move was jarring. It was something that I thought was going to be a little easier than it was,” Jasmine, 41, exclusively shared with Us Weekly before the Wednesday, September 24, season premiere of HGTV’s Help! I Wrecked My House. “But a year in, I’m feeling like we’re getting our groove a little bit. I just feel like we’re getting settled a little bit more. But it’s been a journey.”

For years, HGTV fans watched Jasmine help clients fix their DIY project mishaps in Orange County, California.

But as Jasmine and her husband, Brett Roth, expanded their family with the arrival of baby Darla in September 2024, it was time for a change. (The couple also share daughter Hazel, 5.)

“My husband grew up going here, going snowboarding and vacationing here [in Park City]. We got married here in 2013 and then in 2015, we bought a little condo as our first little getaway that we used a lot,” Jasmine explained to Us. “Each year, we just started spending more and more time here. It got to the point where we were like, ‘Should we just move?’”

While everything didn’t go according to schedule — baby Darla arrived prematurely in Utah and spent 15 days in the NICU — Jasmine said Park City has remained her family’s “happy place.”

“The pace is slower, which I think was really important, especially for us as we became parents, just being able to be present a little bit more,” Jasmine explained. “And not that you can’t be present in Southern California, but we had so much going on there. After 15 years, it felt like there was always something. And if we weren’t doing it, we were letting somebody down and missing out. That chance to just kind of reset and be a little bit more present with our family has been huge.”

That’s not to say Jasmine and her family are done making memories in Southern California.

The designer still makes frequent trips to Orange County and neighboring cities for both business and pleasure, including Los Angeles Rams football games and Orange County Fair adventures.

“It’s an hour and a half flight — it’s so easy,” Jasmine shared about her journey to and from Park City and Orange County. “We still have an apartment there. … We still go back.  Our family is there, our friends are there. I still have a lot of coworkers there. We still have projects going on there. Yeah, I’m still in Southern California.”

Help! I Wrecked My House returns to HGTV Wednesday, September 24, at 8 p.m. ET.
