The UConn Huskies have won the 2025 NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship, taking down two No. 1 seeds in USC and South Carolina on their path to glory.
The Huskies claim the title as the best women’s team in college basketball for the first time since 2016. It is the ninth national championship for head coach Geno Auriemma and the first for Paige Bueckers, who will now go down as one of the greatest female college players of all-time.
Bueckers was fantastic during the Huskies’ run, averaging 24.8 points per game in the NCAA Tournament on 52.8 percent shooting from the field. It was a long journey to the top of the mountain for UConn’s senior leader and probable number one pick in the upcoming WNBA draft. Bueckers finishes her career as the third leading scorer in program history behind Maya Moore and Breanna Stewart.
