After a one-week break, Formula 1 is back this weekend with the Japanese Grand Prix. Will McLaren make it 3-for-3 this weekend in 2025 Grand Prix wins, or can pole-sitter Max Verstappen spoil that plan?

Verstappen earned the pole despite the McLaren drivers being on top in all three practice sessions. Lando Norris starts second while Norris’ McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri, starts third.

Starting fourth is Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, while Mercedes driver George Russell will fire off from the fifth position.

One big storyline this week is that Red Bull and Racing Bulls swapped drivers, with Yuki Tsunoda promoted to the senior team and Liam Lawson sent down to Racing Bulls. Tsunoda showed speed in practice but will start 15th, one spot behind Lawson.

Entering the weekend, Norris leads the point standings with 44 points, while Verstappen is second with 36. Russell is third with 35 and Piastri fourth with 34 as those four have separated themselves from the field in the early going.
