Duke beat Louisville in the regular season 76-65, but that was with Cooper Flagg in the starting lineup. Flagg, the best player in college basketball, is not available for this game after rolling his ankle against Georgia Tech, leaving the door open for the Cardinals to claim the ACC title.
The Blue Devils survived in the semifinals against North Carolina without Flagg, but the Tar Heels nearly pulled off a massive second half comeback before losing in the final seconds. Duke should claim one of the top seeds in the NCAA Tournament no matter the result of this game and they will get their best player back for what they hope will be a deep March Madness run. Still, the ACC title is on the line, and every game is meaningful during this part of the year.
Chucky Hepburn has led the Cardinals this year in scoring, averaging over 16 points per game, but he was not his usual self in the semifinals against Clemson, shooting 4-13 from the field and 1-5 from three. Hepburn will have to have a better performance here to give Louisville a chance to win, and the senior guard will surely be up for the challenge. He scored 37 points against Pittsburgh earlier this month, and it might take that sort of heroic effort to take down the No. 1 team in the country.
