Tigres has gotten off to a fantastic start thus far in the new Liga MX season, securing six points through two matches after winning both games. Tigres’ defense has been a little shaky, giving up three goals in those two matches, but their offense has been good enough to carry them so far, as the club is tied for the league lead in goals scored so far with five, tied with first-place Pachuca, who have played one more game than Tigres so far.
Most recently, Tigres UANL defeated the Houston Dynamo 4-1 in their opening Leagues Cup matchup, behind goals scored by Angel Correa, Diego Lainez, and Ozziel Herrera, who scored seven minutes into second-half stoppage time to cap the brilliant performance for the club out of Liga MX.
San Diego FC, meanwhile, has been one of the best stories in MLS this season, as the club leads the Western Conference with 46 points through 25 matches, the fourth-highest total in the entire league. Most recently, San Diego FC narrowly fell to Liga MX club Pachuca, falling 3-2 despite goals scored by Emmanuel Boateng and Luca Bombino.
San Diego’s Anders Dreyer was red-carded two minutes into second-half stoppage time, rendering him suspended for today’s matchup against Tigres UANL.
