Jake Oettinger stopped Nathan MacKinnon’s final attempt in the shootout on Saturday night as Dallas remained unbeaten with a 5-4 victory over the Colorado Avalanche. Thomas Harley had a goal and an assist in the win as Dallas twice lost one-goal leads in regulation. Nathan Bastian, Jason Robertson, and Wyatt Johnston also found the net for the Stars, with Johnston’s unassisted goal 1:58 into the third period spotting them a 4-3 lead before Colorado tied the game with 9:14 to go in regulation. Robertson and Johnston lead the team with two goals each, while Harley and Mikko Rantanen have a goal and three helpers apiece.
The Wild hit the road on the back end of a back-to-back after blowing a 3-0 lead in the third period on Monday night before Marco Rossi scored in the fourth round of the shootout to lift Minnesota to a 4-3 win over the visiting Los Angeles Kings. Jesper Wallstedt made 31 saves while Jared Spurgeon, Kirill Kaprizov, and Matt Boldy scored first-period power-play goals for the Wild. Boldy and Kaprizov lead the team with three goals and seven points each.
