Kelsey Mitchell added another milestone to her Indiana Fever career Friday night, setting the franchise record for the most games with at least 20 points in a single season.

Mitchell scored 27 points in the Fever’s 95-90 home loss to the Minnesota Lynx, giving her 20 such performances this year. The previous record of 19 was shared by Caitlin Clark in 2024 and Tamika Catchings in 2003. She also extended her franchise mark for most consecutive 20-point outings, with her current streak reaching at least five games.

“It means a lot more than people know because I have been here the longest,” Mitchell said. “They make me feel like I’m important to them and vice versa. I love the people I play with, and to know that they would go out of their way to make something like that happen for me, it means a lot.”

Mitchell has carried Indiana’s offense during a season impacted heavily by injuries, proving to be a nightmare for defenses to contain. She has appeared in all 36 of the Fever’s contests, averaging 20.6 points, 3.4 assists, and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 45.1% from the field and 39.6% from 3-point range.

Fever HC Sends Strong Message After Heartbreaking Loss to Lynx

Her highlights include a season-best 38 points in an Aug. 17 comeback win against the Connecticut Sun, which also moved her past Catchings for the most 30-point games in team history with 11.

“She’s been carrying us, man,” Fever coach Stephanie White said. “Her numbers have been incredible all season long. When we’ve needed her most, she’s stepped up and been even better. You think about it—there are a lot of great MVP candidates out there, but Kelsey Mitchell should certainly be in the conversation.”

The Fever trailed by double digits in the second half against Minnesota before rallying late. Lexie Hull scored a career-high 23 points, and Shey Peddy added 10 off the bench, but Kayla McBride’s 29 points and Jess Shepard’s triple-double of 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists lifted the Lynx.

After the game, Fever players surprised Mitchell by arriving in “MVP Mitchell” shirts, a gesture she said left her “taken back … fun, funny, and very humbled.”

With Indiana battling for playoff positioning, Mitchell’s record-breaking stretch has fully displayed her value as one of the league’s most reliable guards and the centerpiece of the Fever’s late-season push.
