As Travis Kelce walked off the field at Arrowhead Stadium after losing a 20-13 defeat to the Denver Broncos, as the soldout crowd chanted his name, he took it all in what could be his final time playing at home for the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs faithful showed up on Christmas to support their future Hall of Fame tight end as he waved to the crowd and threw his gloves into the stands, with fellow veteran Chris Jones meeting him in the tunnel to give him a hug.

Kelce brushed off his emotions post-game, saying it was Christmas and that any retirement talk would come after the season, when he had time to talk to his family, including his mother and fiancée Taylor Swift. Both of whom were in attendance, cheering him on from his Arrowhead suite as he attempted to help the Chiefs make a late-game comeback one more time in the fourth quarter.

One Chiefs legend, though, didn’t think it was just the holiday spirit that was making Kelce take longer to leave the field on Thursday.

He believes that it is a sign that it could very well be the end for one of the best players in Chiefs history.

“I really do believe he has kind of an idea which way he’s leaning towards, if he’s going to retire or come back,” said fellow Kansas City tight end legend Tony Gonzalez on the “Thursday Night Football” post-game show following the contest. “The way he was looking — looking around, enjoying it, soaking it up — as you said, that tells me that maybe this is his last time in front of this home crowd.”

Gonzalez went on to talk about his own retirement a decade ago and how thoughts were swimming through his head during that final game.

For Kelce, although this might be his goodbye to Arrowhead Stadium, he will play at least one more game before making his decision on his future in the offseason. The Chiefs will travel to the Las Vegas Raiders, who sit at the bottom of the football standings, for their Week 18th matchup to end the NFL season.
