Israel has launched strikes across Iran overnight on Friday that it says targeted Tehran’s nuclear programme, reportedly killing Hossein Salami, chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as well as two top nuclear scientists, according to Iranian state media.
Meanwhile the Israel Defensce Forces (IDF) said Iran had launched “approximately 100 UAVs towards Israeli territory”.
The US has described Israel’s action as unilateral, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said its top priority is protecting American forces in the region, and a US media outlet reports President Donald Trump has convened his cabinet for an emergency meeting.
