An Italian village is offering villas for $1 to Americans who were sent into a tailspin and looking to flee the country after Donald Trump’s decisive 2024 presidential election win.

The village of Ollolai, located in central Sardinia, is offering real estate for as little as $1.06 in a pitch to woo Americans who fancy the ex-pat lifestyle in the wake of the Nov. 5 election results, according to a new statement from Commune di Ollolai.

“Are you worned [sic] out by global politics?” a website for the town wrote in a new advert.

“Looking to embrace a more balanced lifestyle while securing new opportunities? It’s time to start building your European escape in the stunning paradise of Sardinia.”

The promotion boasts of the beautiful climate, incredible food, and ancient traditions that offer a healthier and fuller life.

The mayor of the town of Ollolai says that Americans are their target buyer.

“We just really want, and will focus on, Americans above all,” Mayor Francesco Columbu told CNN.

“We can’t of course ban people from other countries to apply, but Americans will have a fast-track procedure. We are betting on them to help us revive the village, they are our winning card.”

Ollolai was recently flooded with over 38,000 requests for information on houses, most of which came from the US, CNN reported.

The mayor has even formed a specialized team to help guide international buyers through every step of the purchase process, according to the outlet.

Ollolai resides in the heart of Sardinia’s Nuoro Province.

That area is world renowned for being one of five places in the world considered a “blue zone.”

“Blue zones” are locations around the world where people notably have higher than average life expectancies.

Nuoro Province in Sardinia, boasts an average life expectancy of 79 years old for men and 85 years old for women, according to the National Health Institute.

The Mediterranean island also has nearly ten times more centenarians than average.

Ollolai notes that they are one of the first towns in Europe to offer the now famous $1 deals for villas and houses.

That offer, made with the concept of economic revitalization, have become fixtures of real estate in the Old World.

These bargains are for properties that require a significant amount of renovation.

The town is also offering abodes that are more expensive but required less investment to achieve a livable standard. Ready-to-occupy houses are priced at $105,000.

Photos of houses and potentially purchasable properties will appear on the website in the near future, according to the advertisement.

Most of the homes are located in the historical center of the city.

The village remains “half-empty,” Mayor Columbu told CNN.
