Things went so poorly for the Philadelphia Eagles last season that it ended up costing offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo his job.

The Eagles had one of the more conservative offenses in the NFL, which frustrated not only their fans but several members of the offense as well.

ESPN published a report after speaking with several anonymous team sources who seemingly blamed Hurts more than Patullo for the team’s struggles. But Hurts is one of the highest-paid QBs in the NFL and a high-profile player — so he was never really going anywhere.

The good news for Eagles fans, however, is it doesn’t look like 2026 will be a repeat of 2025. According to ESPN, Hurts seems to be hitting it off with new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, likely giving everyone in Philadelphia hope that things won’t be as dreary next season.

“Jalen’s been awesome,” Mannion said. “I really think he can do anything we ask of him. He’s accurate. He’s a great athlete. He really attacks the fundamentals. That’s what’s been really fun to watch these last two weeks of Phase 2.

“He’s always wanting more things to work on, wanting more things regarding fundamentals, timing, understanding the scheme. He’s hungry for more. Those are the guys that are really fun to work with.”

The Eagles’ offensive ineptness didn’t just affect Hurts and Patullo last season, it also caused problems with star wide receiver A.J. Brown, who publicly criticized the team multiple times on social media.

Brown is expected to be traded after June 1, ridding the Eagles of another potential distraction.
