Soon after Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was awarded his second consecutive NBA MVP trophy, his Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Jalen Williams sparked buzz around the league with a public comment.
“There’s gonna be some uncomfortable convos ya’ll gotta have,” Williams wrote on Instagram, seemingly referencing Gilgeous-Alexander’s improving position among the NBA’s all-time greats. SGA is now one of 14 players in league history to win back-to-back MVPs — joining some elite NBA company.
Williams was asked about this comment before Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals on Wednesday.
“I’ll let you guys know [what I meant] after the year is over,” Williams said.
