Jay-Z revealed the man who alleges to be his secret son, Rymir Satterthwaite, was hit with an injunction in 2022 for filing so many “frivolous” court filings, Us Weekly can exclusively report.
On Friday, July 18, the Roc Nation cofounder’s legal team demanded Satterthwaite’s latest lawsuit, filed in federal court, be dismissed immediately. The mogul said he’s been dealing with Satterthwaite’s claims since 2010.
Jay-Z, 55, claimed Satterthwaite, 30, and his caretaker have been harassing him for years. He said the claims in the new lawsuit have been “addressed” and “rejected” in multiple other courts “time and time again.”
In his filing, Jay-Z said he was repeatedly dragged to court by Satterthwaite, Satterthwaite’s late mother, and Satterthwaite’s caretaker “based on the false assertion” that Satterthwaite is his biological son.
Jay-Z’s legal team pointed out Satterthwaite’s paternity was previously established for someone else in a court proceeding — someone “who [Satterthwaite’s] mother claimed no later than 1994 was [Satterthwaite’s] father — and the person was ordered to pay child support.”
His lawyers noted that in 2010, the court told Satterthwaite’s mother she could not “wait seventeen years to name a second person as the father of her child when she identified another person as the father sixteen years ago and never attempted to recent that identification until now.”
Jay-Z’s lawyer said Satterthwaite’s new complaint “alleges the various court orders issued in the last fifteen years, which uniformly rejected [Satterthwaite’s] claims, got it wrong and this court should find [Jay-Z] liable for fraud” and other claims.
He accused Satterthwaite’s new lawsuit of being a “transparent attempt” to circumvent a 2022 court injunction. The injunction, which was issued in a lawsuit the family brought against one of Jay-Z’s lawyers, states Satterthwaite and his caregiver are not allowed to file any new lawsuits regarding the matter in the state of New Jersey without the court’s approval.
The entertainer said Satterthwaite tried to challenge the injunction twice but lost.
Us obtained a copy of the 2022 injunction that ordered Satterthwaite and his family members to stop filing new suits.
Jay-Z’s lawyer said the new case should be thrown out and requested his fees to be covered.
Satterthwaite told Us when contacted for comment about the injunction, “This injunction Order I am not aware of and have never been served. But all the Orders from NJ regarding Judges are in the Appeals Court since they were derived from fraud to block our due process which showed [Jay-Z’s] wrong doing of allegations of perjury.”
In regard to the claim his mother had previously claimed his father was another man, he told Us his mother was a minor during his pregnancy and he stood by his statement that Jay-Z was the father.
As Us first reported, Satterthwaite filed a new case on May 6, where he once again alleged Jay-Z was his biological father. He claimed his mother, Wanda Satterthwaite, had sexual relations with the rapper in the 90s. He also alleged Jay-Z has refused to submit to a DNA test over the years.
Satterthwaite has filed several lawsuits against Jay-Z in various states, including New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In his new suit, he alleged Jay-Z and his legal team have committed “fraud” upon multiple courts and have successfully suppressed his paternity claim to “prevent legal accountability.”
Satterthwaite’s lawsuit demands unspecified damages for his alleged emotional and psychological damages.
The case is ongoing.
