Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber wanted to keep their Dancing With the Stars Disney Night dance as accurate to The Little Mermaid as possible — which is why they didn’t share a kiss on the dancefloor.
“We wanted to do the scene justice and do it the way the movie was,” Jenn, 26, told Us Weekly exclusively following the Tuesday, October 22 episode of DWTS. “We don’t want to make up stuff that didn’t happen in the movie, that’d be crazy.”
At the end of Jenn and Sasha’s dance to “Kiss the Girl” from The Little Mermaid, Sasha kissed Jenn on the forehead. The duo was immediately trolled by the judges for the PG-rated smooch. Derek Hough even commented that he “ships” Jenn and Sasha together.
“They don’t kiss at the end,” Jenn reiterated to Us on Tuesday night, referring to Princess Ariel and Prince Eric in the 1989 animated movie. Sasha, for his part, wanted to keep the dance on the “elegant” side.
As for Hough’s “ship” comment, both Jenn and Sasha played coy.
“I ship him and Hayley [Erbert], his wife,” Sasha quipped to Us, before praising the judges for their positive comments following their routine. The professional dancer noted that Jenn “worked so hard” this week.
The former Bachelorette star agreed and said it was “really exciting” to get recognition from one judge, specifically.
“I worked really hard this week, so Carrie Ann [Inaba] telling me that meant a lot,” she said, reflecting on Inaba’s comment about this dance being the “best.”
It was Disney Night on DWTS, so Us leaned into the magic of Jenn and Sasha’s partnership.
“What’s magical about you is that you manage to never wear a shirt,” Jenn joked to her partner. Sasha was quick to hit back, saying, “You just made that up.”
Sasha also noted that Jenn has a “beautiful smile” and said he likes her freckles.
With the magic of Disney aside, Jenn had a special week overall. The Bachelorette star got a chance to work alongside Joey Graziadei for the DWTS team dance. Not only are they both a part of Bachelor Nation but Jenn was on Joey’s season last year.
“It’s so fun. We’re such good friends,” Jenn said, noting that she goes to dinner with Joey, 28, and his fiancée, Kelsey Anderson, “all the time.”
“It’s really great to have a friend on the team,” she continued. “We already have that great friendship.”
