When Josh Allen had his No. 17 jersey retired at the University of Wyoming on Saturday, November 22, he had his wife right by his side.

Allen, 29, enjoyed the game between Wyoming and Nevada at War Memorial Stadium with his wife, actress Hailee Steinfeld, and the two shared a sweet moment while taking in the action.

During the first quarter of the game, Allen and Steinfeld, 28, were shown conversing before Steinfeld affectionately tapped the brim of her hat on Allen’s before cuddling up to the Buffalo Bills quarterback.

Both were decked out in Wyoming football gear. Steinfeld rocked a yellow “Allen” hat.

The jersey retirement ceremony took place at halftime of the game, as Allen became the first player in program history to have his number retired.

The reigning NFL MVP went onto the field for the ceremony, joined by his parents, Joel and LaVonne Allen, who wore hybrid Bills and Wyoming jerseys for the event.

To start the ceremony, the team showed a montage of Allen’s highlights from his time at Wyoming.

“The fans and the support here in Wyoming, I am so blessed to represent this university and this beautiful state,” Allen said during the ceremony. “I love you guys. Thank you, God bless, go Pokes.”

Allen spent three seasons at Wyoming, from 2015-2017. He was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills.

He finished his career at Wyoming with 5,066 yards and 44 touchdowns with only 21 interceptions. He also ran for 727 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Allen is now in his eighth season with the Bills, coming off an MVP season last year. He had his breakout season in 2020, leading the Bills to a 13-3 record and an AFC Championship appearance.

Buffalo currently sits at 7-4 this season, coming off a loss to the Houston Texans on Thursday, November 20.

Allen’s romance with Steinfeld started in May 2023, when the two went out on a sushi date in New York City with friends.

In October of that same year, Steinfeld made her first public appearance supporting Allen at a Bills game in London.

One year into the relationship, Allen officially “hard launched” the couple via Instagram in July 2024.

They were engaged in November 2024 and tied the knot on May 31, 2025.

“Yeah, that was the best night of my life honestly,” Allen said of the wedding on HBO’s Hard Knocks. “And my wife’s life, I think. That’s what she says.”

“We had the amazing [wedding photographer] Jose Villa and his team with us from Thursday through Sunday to capture all the love. We had a no-phone wedding — we wanted everyone to come and be present,” Steinfeld wrote in her “Beau Society” newsletter a few weeks later. “Looking back, it was one of the best decisions we made. But that meant Jose had his work cut out for him, capturing all the magic for us.”

The two have been publicly supportive of their respective careers throughout their relationship, with Steinfeld attending various Bills games and the 2025 NFL Honors awards ceremony, where Allen won the NFL MVP.

“You’ve been my rock. You are my best friend [and] I would not be standing on this stage if it weren’t for you,” Allen said to Steinfeld in his acceptance speech. “So, with that being said, be good, do good, God bless and go Bills.”

Allen has also used his platform to support Steinfeld’s various acting projects, including commenting on her newest film, Sinners, during a press conference in April.

“I’m so excited for her,” he said. “I’m so proud of her. It’s getting some great reviews. It’s a fantastic movie, so just go watch it. I’m just there trying to support her in whatever way that I can.”
