A week after his Masters heartbreak, Justin Rose moved on to the next stop on the PGA calendar — which left his family to celebrate Easter without their patriarch.

Rose, 44, competed at the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head, South Carolina, over the weekend, the first PGA event since Rose lost to Rory McIlroy in a sudden death playoff at the 2025 Masters Tournament on April 13.

The golfer’s wife, Kate Rose, posted about her family’s holiday festivities without Justin via a carousel of photos on social media.

“Happy Easter!” Kate shared via Instagram on Sunday, April 20. “Not sure if it can be as exciting as last Sunday, missing my main man from our home today @justinprose99 💕.”

Kate posed with a group of family members — including son Leo, 16, and daughter Charlotte, 13, both of whom she shares with Justin — in front of a table of Easter candies and goodies.

Golfweek reported in 2023 that Justin and his family had returned to living full-time in London while his kids were in school. Justin was born in South Africa to English parents and moved to England when he was 5 years old.

“Sunny Surrey looks lovely,” golfer Matt Wallace commented on Kate’s post. “Happy Easter guys!”

The holiday weekend came on the heels of a dramatic, headline-making one at Augusta National Golf Club for the Rose family.

Kate was on hand at the 2025 Masters Tournament to see Justin lose to McIlroy, 35, on the first sudden death playoff hole. Shortly after McIlroy’s moment of glory, Kate found the Irish golf superstar and gave him a 13-second hug that was captured by CBS cameras.

During the embrace, Kate could be heard telling McIlroy she was “really happy” for him .

Justin and McIlroy have a friendship that’s spanned over a decade, with the two European golfers competing together on Ryder Cup teams since 2012.

After his wife’s hug with McIlroy went viral, Justin was asked if he had spoken to Kate about it before he teed off at the RBC Heritage.

“No, not really,” Justin told reporters on Thursday, April 17. “There was some article somewhere [saying] like, ‘Who’s the mystery woman that was hugging Rory?’” Justin continued. “It turned out to be Kate. That was pretty funny.”

Justin added of Kate and Rory’s hug, “Listen, I think in the moment you realize what it means to everybody involved. You realize what it means to other families, what they must be feeling. You’re a part of the moment. You’re a part of the story. You’re a part of all of the energy that’s going on in that moment. I think that’s what happens.”

Justin finished in a tie for 42nd at the RBC Heritage. McIlroy did not play in the tournament after taking a celebratory trip to Ireland with his 4-year-old daughter, Poppy.

McIlroy will return to action at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans on Thursday, April 24, teaming up with his friend Shane Lowry. Justin will not be competing in the event.
