Keanu Reeves had support from his girlfriend, Alexandra Grant, on the opening night of his new play, Waiting for Godot, on Sunday, September 28.

Reeves and Grant posed for photos while holding hands on the red carpet at the Hudson Theatre in New York City. Reeves, 61, looked suave in a black tuxedo jacket and gray pinstriped pants. Grant, 52, wore an elegant black dress for the occasion.

Sunday marked the opening night of Waiting for Godot, a new Jamie Lloyd Company adaptation of the tragicomedy play by famed Irish playwright and poet Samuel Beckett. Reeves stars in the production alongside his longtime Bill & Ted costar Alex Winter.

Reeves and Grant, who made their romance public in 2019, both recently shut down speculation that they had gotten married.

“It is not true,” a representative for Reeves said in a statement to E! News on September 22. “They are not married.”

A few days later, Grant addressed the rumor in the caption of a sweet Instagram picture of her and the actor sharing a kiss.

“This is a real photo. Not an engagement photo or an AI wedding announcement… simply a kiss! (Albeit maybe the moment right before or after it… given the slightly goofy expressions on our faces!) We’re at Roden Crater, and Keanu and Gard had just finished interviewing James Turrell for Visionaries,” Grant wrote.

The visual artist continued, “I’m sharing it here to say thank you to everyone for the congratulations on our wedding. Except we didn’t get married. Good news is much needed these days, but it’s still fake news, so be careful out there! So, here’s a bit of real happiness!”

Reeves and Grant met at a dinner party in 2009. They went on to collaborate on various projects, including Reeves’ book, Ode to Happiness and Shadow. They made their first red carpet appearance as a couple at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in November 2019.

The couple have kept their relationship largely private; however, earlier this month, Grant shared a touching Instagram tribute to her man to mark his 61st birthday on September 2.

“Thank you to everyone for sending over sweet wishes for Keanu’s birthday yesterday… he was well-celebrated!” she wrote.

“As many of you know, Keanu isn’t on any social media platforms and doesn’t see posts or memes unless someone who is shows him,” she continued.

Addressing the Matrix star, she added, “And to Keanu – who saw this post as a draft! – I am so grateful for your love and partnership. Now back to painting! xo.”
