Justin Timberlake is a household name for most people — but not for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s kids.
During the Thursday, March 6, episode of The Kardashians, Kim, 44, planned Khloé Kardashian‘s 40th birthday party with help from son Saint, 9, and daughter Chicago, 7. The event was Dollywood-themed, which confused Kris Jenner‘s boyfriend, Corey Gamble.
“I don’t think anyone knows that it is somewhat of a Western theme,” Kim told Corey, 44. “You can even just wear a T-Shirt and then put on chains and jeans. Or you can go full on J.T.”
Saint interjected to ask if J.T. means Jayson Tatum.
“Do you know who Justin Timberlake is?” Kim asked Saint, who denied being familiar with the former ‘NSync band member. “[Saint] said, ‘Who is J.T.?’ Jason Tatum?’ That is just where my kids are at. ”
Justin, 44, got his start performing with Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick. The boy band was originally formed in 1995 and reached stardom with hit songs including “Bye Bye Bye” and “Tearin Up My Heart.”
In 2007, Lance confirmed that the group parted ways to explore solo endeavors. ‘NSync has since collaborated on several new songs, including “Better Place” from the third Trolls movie — but Justin has remained focused on his solo career.
Justin has also made headlines for his personal life. Before his marriage to Jessica Biel, Justin famously dated Britney Spears — and The Kardashians even showed a photo of the former pair on Thursday. The couple dated from 1999 to 2002 after meeting on the set of The Mickey Mouse Club.
After their breakup, Justin raised eyebrows with the music video for his hit single “Cry Me a River,” which seemingly hinted at the breakup and rumors Britney was unfaithful. She addressed their tumultuous relationship in her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me, which was released shortly after Justin issued a public apology to his ex for how he may have played a role in the negative attention she received in the spotlight.
“I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right,” he wrote in a statement shared via Instagram in February 2021 following the release of the New York Times documentary Freeing Britney Spears. “The industry is flawed. It sets men, especially white men, up for success. It’s designed this way.”
Justin noted he still has “respect” for Spears despite feeling like he “failed” her, adding, “As a man in a privileged position I have to be vocal about this. Because of my ignorance, I didn’t recognize it for all that it was while it was happening in my own life but I do not want to ever benefit from others being pulled down again. I can do better and I will do better.”
New episodes of The Kardashians air on Hulu every Thursday.
