The Washington Commanders are adding to their front seven.

In a deal reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Commanders are signing former New England Patriots pass rusher, K’Lavon Chaisson to a one-year, $12 million deal.

The Chaisson signing comes after the Commanders signed former Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher, Odafe Oweh to a four-year, $100 million deal – signifying a new-look edge room for Dan Quinn in 2026.

In 2019, Chaisson was one of the best players on LSU’s historic National Championship winning team, which launched the linebacker up draft boards before ultimately being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 20th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Despite his terrific final season in Baton Rouge, Chaisson struggled to find his footing in the NFL, starting just 11 games in four seasons with the Jaguars before the club declined his fifth-year option, making him a free agent prior to the 2024 season.

Chaisson signed with the Carolina Panthers during the 2024 off-season, but was released by the team during final roster cuts following the pre-season. The Las Vegas Raiders would take a chance on Chaisson, signing him to their active roster one month into the regular season, and the former first-round pick shined, securing 32 tackles and five sacks in just four starts with the black and silver.

Chaisson’s solid tenure with the Raiders earned him a one-year, $5 million deal with the Patriots prior to the 2025 season and the former LSU star had the best season of his professional career – despite appearing in just 10 games due to nagging injuries, Chaisson had 7.5 sacks and was an integral part of the Patriots surprise run to Super Bowl 60.
