The New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs with a 94-90 final score on Saturday night, securing the franchise’s first NBA title since 1973.
This NBA Finals victory marked the first championship ring for every member of the Knicks roster, including Josh Hart.
Hart played a massive role in the Knicks’ historic run to the Larry O’Brien Trophy. In Saturday night’s Game 5 victory, he recorded a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double — putting on yet another impressive all-around performance.
After the Knicks’ series-clinching victory, Hart took to social media with a clear request for all those who address him.
“FROM NOW ON ADDRESS ME AS CHAMP!” he wrote on X.

Hart has played for four teams in his nine-year NBA career, taking the court for the Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans and Portland Trail Blazers before ultimately landing with the Knicks midway through the 2022-23 NBA season.
In New York, he rejoined his former Villanova teammates Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges. Brunson scored a series-high 45 points in Game 5, leading the Knicks to victory as Finals MVP.
“I’ve been doubted so many times, traded, had so much instability — seven, eight different head coaches. I found a home in New York. They embraced me for the person that I am, the player that I am,” Hart said postgame.
