Lane Kiffin agreed to become the LSU Tigers’ next head coach almost immediately after his regular season ended with the Ole Miss Rebels, and he made it a priority to be aggressive in the NCAA transfer portal, which opened on Jan. 2.
Kiffin certainly delivered on that promise, assembling what ESPN ranked as the No. 1 transfer portal class in college football. His haul included nine top-100 players, capped off by another five-star talent, offensive tackle Jordan Seaton, committing on Friday.
He’s added multiple quarterbacks, outside playmakers, and several players from his former Ole Miss team. With all that momentum, Kiffin sent a clear warning to college football on Saturday by reposting a quote about LSU’s dominant portal class on social media with a message.
The quote read, “Lane Kiffin said he was coming to LSU to go and get the best players all across the United States and he wasn’t [expletive] around.”
Kiffin shared the quote alongside his own message, writing, “Tried to tell you it’s #JustDifferent now!! #BTA on 1/2/26 [LSU Football]. Time to grind them.”

LSU’s transfer portal class features five five-star recruits and 22 four-star players. The Tigers landed three of the top five players in the portal, all ranked No. 1 at their position.
One of those players is offensive tackle Jordan Seaton, while the other two are quarterback Sam Leavitt, likely to be Kiffin’s starter this season, and Ole Miss transfer Princewill Umanmielen, the No. 1 EDGE rusher.
Indiana, which won this year’s national championship with a roster primarily made up of transfer portal additions, has seemingly set a new standard for college football.
Teams are increasingly building rosters with proven, experienced players rather than relying solely on 18-year-old five-star recruits. This season, the Hoosiers’ average age was 23 — and it clearly worked to their benefit.
