The Jacksonville Jaguars are currently playing some of the best football in the NFL, winning four of their last five games, and they’ve done it without rookie sensation Travis Hunter, who suffered a season-ending injury during practice on Oct. 30.
Hunter sustained a non-contact, isolated LCL tear in his right knee, which required surgery and is expected to sideline him until the 2026 season.
While it was an unfortunate set of circumstances, Hunter—who was still adjusting to playing both cornerback and wide receiver—was beginning to find his footing, particularly at corner. He was coming off an impressive Week 7 performance against the Los Angeles Rams in which he hauled in eight receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown.
Nonetheless, Hunter appears to be in good spirits. A recent video of him surfaced this week showing him walking and providing a positive update on his recovery.
“This ain’t nothing to me. I’m bout to be running a 40 yd dash by tomorrow,” Hunter says in the video.

Hunter rehabbing properly is a great sign for Jacksonville, as the franchise invested heavily to land him with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. The Jaguars traded multiple picks in that draft and included their 2026 first-round selection, which is now expected to fall outside the top 15 as the team heads toward the postseason.
This season, Hunter recorded 11 tackles on defense while playing a limited number of snaps, and he added 28 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown on the offensive side of the ball.
Jacksonville is set to travel to Indianapolis this week for a matchup with the Colts, and with a win plus a Houston Texans loss, the Jaguars would clinch the AFC South.
However, if Jacksonville wins out, they would claim the division regardless of what Houston does, which would be a major building block in head coach Liam Coen’s first season—especially while playing without one of the franchise’s premier players for the future.
