We officially have our first father-son NBA duo in the history of the league.

Los Angeles Lakers teammates LeBron and Bronny James became the first-ever NBA father-son duo to share time on the hardwood.

The moment happened Tuesday night during the Lakers’ season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Bronny checked in alongside LeBron with four minutes left in the second quarter.

Before the start of Tuesday’s match, head coach JJ Redick said he planned on getting Bronny into the game at some point, which happened to be in the second quarter.

Bronny played three minutes and attempted two shots, one of which was a three, but he was unable to connect on either. Overall, he recorded zero points and zero assists. The 6-foot-2 point guard did manage to grab one offensive rebound.

The Lakers have looked good through the first half of the first game of the 2024-25 season. L.A. finished the first half shooting 41.5 percent from the field; however, they shot only 16 percent from three on 19 attempts. The Lakers were only able to make three threes in the first 24 minutes.

This is the moment that LeBron, Bronny, Laker fans, and the NBA world have been waiting for. After years of speculation on whether or not LeBron would play alongside his son, not only did it happen, but it happened while LeBron was still at the top of his game.

Although Bronny has been unable to record a point so far, LeBron has been his old self through the first half. In 16 minutes, LeBron recorded eight points on 4-for-9 shooting, three rebounds, one block, and one turnover while being a +2 in the plus/minus category.

Everybody knows that Bronny’s development in the NBA will take some time. After tonight, he will likely make his way to the G League, where he will play the majority of the season with L.A.’s El Segundo affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.

After only one year at the University of Southern California, Bronny averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 36.8 percent from the field and 26.7 percent from three in 25 games, with six starts as a Trojan.

He declared for the NBA draft while also entering the transfer portal. Ultimately, he decided to go pro, and the Lakers selected him with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Bronny is the most scrutinized and criticized 55th pick in the history of the NBA, and that’s because of who his father is.

This is only the beginning for Bronny, and we can’t wait to see how his NBA career pans out.
