Luka Doncic’s season should be over, but the Slovenian superstar is not giving up.
A few nights ago, against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Doncic went down with a hamstring injury, limping off the court and into the locker room.
The diagnosis was a Grade 2 hamstring strain, which typically keeps a player out for four to six weeks.
And even in cases where a player can return after a month, there’s a higher risk of reaggravating and worsening the injury if pushed too fast, too soon.
In Doncic’s case, he wouldn’t only be thrown back into NBA action, but playoff basketball, which elevates the intensity of the game around him.
On Sunday, the Los Angeles Lakers saw how much they missed Doncic and Austin Reaves (also out for the regular season with an oblique strain) when they lost to a Dallas Mavericks team nowhere near the postseason hunt and already looking towards the NBA Draft.
Although this should be the end for the Lakers, who’ll finish out the regular season before more than likely getting eliminated in round one, Doncic doesn’t want it to end that way.

More news: Will Luka Doncic Return to the Lakers for the NBA Playoffs?
Doncic’s agent has informed the media that his client will travel to his home continent, Europe, in hopes of finding a way to expedite his recovery and make it back for the playoffs.
“After consultation with Lakers doctors and his own medical team,” ESPN senior insider Shams Charania posted on social media. “Luka Doncic will seek specialized medical treatment in Europe on his Grade 2 left hamstring in an attempt to expedite his return to play.”
It’s an extremely aggressive move for an injury that, as aforementioned, can quickly flare up and lead to more serious injuries if pushed too hard, too soon.
But with Doncic still searching for his first NBA crown and having one of the best seasons of his career before the injury, he will leave no option unturned in his quest to return to the court for the Lakers when the tournament for it all begins.
