A man waiting for a bus has lost his arm after the bus crashed into a shelter on the Gold Coast.
The bus was travelling along Township Drive, in Burleigh Waters, just before 5pm on Monday when it crashed into the brick structure.
The roof of the shelter collapsed, a police spokesperson said, crushing the 42-year-old’s arm and causing chest injuries.
Paramedics took the man to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a life-threatening condition, where he had surgery and remained in a critical condition on Tuesday.
The 57-year-old man driving the bus was not hurt, and there were no reports of passengers injured.
Police are investigating the crash, and have requested anyone with vision of the crash to come forward.
