Golf’s World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler came up short of winning his third Green Jacket at The Masters last April, but Scheffler won the weekend in terms of heartwarming optics.

Fans went crazy for footage of Scheffler walking Augusta National with his wife, Meredith, and son, Bennett, who wore matching “Scheffler” caddie suits. Bennett was 11 months old at the time.

Scheffler brought one more good luck charm with him to Augusta National ahead of the 2026 Masters this week.

On Sunday afternoon, longtime Associated Press golf writer Doug Ferguson wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Another boy for the Schefflers (Remy). The little fella is 9 days old and already at the Masters.”

Scheffler withdrew from the Houston Open on March 24. While the birth of his second son was not disclosed at the time, ESPN noted that it “was always questionable for him to play because his wife is expecting their second child.”

Scheffler is the odds-on favorite to win the 2026 Masters, which would be his third Masters title since 2022, and Rory McIlroy has the third-best odds to follow up on his historic performance from last year that completed his career grand slam.

“There’s nobody been more dominant in the game in terms of underlying statistics over the last few years, including winning five times a year, than Scottie Scheffler,” said Paul McGinley, Europe’s hero at the 2002 Ryder Cup, while on Sky Sports. “As great as Rory McIlroy is, the sheer consistency and relentlessness of Scottie Scheffler makes him the No. 1 player comfortably in the world.”

McGinley went so far as to say Scheffler is the most consistently great player the PGA Tour has seen since Tiger Woods.

Scheffler will have his chance to prove McGinley right when the first round of The Masters tees off on Thursday. See the full 2026 Masters schedule here.
