McLaren Racing Formula One driver Oscar Piastri has announced an ambassadorial partnership with My Room Children’s Cancer Charity, which will help the Australian organization raise funds for cancer treatment and awareness.

Piastri revealed the new partnership on Instagram, admitting that his meeting with six-year-old Kruz Seumanutafa at the Australian Grand Prix motivated him to collaborate with the charity. Seumanutafa, who is battling leukemia, received a signed helmet replica from Piastri at Albert Park.

Since its inception in 1993, My Room Children’s Cancer Charity has raised over $33 million, which has been donated to support the families of children battling cancer. Piastri revealed that his meeting with Seumanutafa helped him understand the kind of work the charity has been doing. He stated:

“Since then, I’ve developed an understanding of the work that the charity provides during such difficult times, offering guidance and support across multiple areas. It feels a natural progression to become involved as an ambassador.

“Children’s cancer is devastating for all involved and it’s remarkable to see My Room’s tireless work to help in any way they can.”

Announcing the new partnership on Instagram, Piastri said:

“Some of you might remember that I met Kruz this year at the Australian Grand Prix, thanks to the My Room Children’s Cancer Charity. The team have been keeping me updated with Kruz’s journey, and I’ve really kind of understood a lot more about what the charity is all about and how they support very young kids with cancer.

“Obviously, any kind of cancer is extremely devastating, let alone in children. So I’m very proud to announce that I’m going to become an ambassador for the My Room Children’s Cancer Charity.

“I’m really looking forward to working with them all on trying to raise more incredibly valuable funds, and also just support and awareness around cancer. So looking forward to working with My Room and yeah, thanks for all your support everyone.”

The announcement arrives during the F1 summer break, where teams take some time off from a hectic season to relax and reconnect with friends and family. With 10 more rounds to go before the season concludes, McLaren has been dominating the grid this season, as both Piastri and Lando Norris have scored consistently well.

It is predicted that the championship battle between the two drivers will come down to the last race, given that only nine points separate them. But as of now, it is Piastri who leads the 2025 championship with 284 points, followed by Norris in second with 275 points.
