After years of anticipation, weeks of previews, and a big grand opening, Universal Epic Universe is finally opening its doors, boasting some of the most exciting theming and attractions in the theme park world.
As is the case with every Universal park, each land is based off of its own film or collection of films that only Universal can provide.
So let’s take a look at what movies, television shows, and video games you need to enjoy each land and attraction to its fullest.

Universal Epic Universe is finally opening on May 23, 2025. it is open 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily from May 22-31, 2025.
Starting June 2, the park will be open from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM with early park admission beginning at 8:00 AM.
What Lands are in Universal Epic Universe?

Additionally, the gateway land for Epic Universe is Celestial Park, connecting all of the lands together.
Let’s take a look at everything you need to experience to be ready for each of these exciting lands.
Isle of Berk – How to Train Your Dragon Series
Based on the ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ franchise, the Isle of Berk takes guests into an exciting world of vikings and dragons, who are now living in harmony.
Somewhat obviously, the best viewing option to get into the spirit of Berk is any of the ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ animated films as well as the television series. All of them follow the adventures of Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) and Toothless.
Additionally, a live-action adaptation of the first film is set to release on June 13, 2025.
Super Nintendo World – The Super Mario Bros. Movie
Super Nintendo World takes guests into the iconic games created by Shigeru Miyamoto and allows them to spend time with the likes of Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, and Donkey Kong.
A movie recommendation for this land is easy since there is only one that fits the theming. ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2023 and is a ton of fun.
For further recommendations, you’ll have to plug in your Nintendo Switch and play some games. To get a solid taste of what Super Nintendo World is based on, play ‘Mario Kart 8,’ any 3D Super Mario game, or any of the ‘Donkey Kong Country’ games.
Dark Universe – Classic Universal Monster Films
Dark Universe puts guests side by side with the same monsters that made Universal Pictures famous, including Frankenstein’s Monster, Dracula, The Invisible Man, The Wolf Man, The Bride of Frankenstein, and more.
While there have been modern interpretations of these monsters, nothing beats the classics, especially ‘Frankenstein,’ ‘The Bride of Frankenstein,’ ‘The Invisible Man,’ ‘Dracula,’ ‘Wolfman,’ and ‘The Phantom of the Opera.’

Also, if you’re looking to have some fun, try the Abbott & Costello Universal monster films. They’re a ton of fun and a great way to meet these creatures in less terrifying circumstances.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic – Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
This now marks the third Wizarding World of Harry Potter land in the US, this time putting a focus on the Ministry of Magic set in 1920s Paris, France.
This sets the land in the same time period as the ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ series. The first two films of the trilogy are great to set the scene while also introducing the Circus Arcanus, who performs in the park.
Additionally, ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ is required viewing for anyone who wants to go on the ride ‘Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry.’ Not only does it focus on the Ministry of Magic, it also introduces Dolores Umbridge, the main villain of the attraction.
