A school bus was involved in a crash on Monday night, leading to 13 people being transported to the hospital.

Montvale Mayor Mike Ghassali said the bus was heading to New York on the Garden State Parkway near mile marker 170.9. He added that the parkway’s lanes were closed.
“THANKFULY NO FATALITIES REPORTED,” Ghassali wrote in a Facebook update around 9 p.m. ET. “MOST SERIOUS INJURY NOW HAS A PULSE.
31 TOTAL OCCUPANTS ON THE BUS HEADING TO NEW YORK, 13 TRANSPORTED TO LOCAL HOSPITALS.”
According to CBS’ New York affiliate, the crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. Police and fire rescue vehicles were at the scene in Ghassali’s posts on Facebook. The bus also appeared to be laying on its side on the highway.

Democratic Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey said on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday: “I’ve been briefed on a crash on the Garden State Parkway earlier tonight near the James Gandolfini Service Area involving an overturned school bus from Lakewood. @NJSP and @NewJerseyDOT are currently on the scene. An investigation is ongoing.”
