Former Denver Broncos first-round pick and Florida Gators legend Tim Tebow announced some devastating personal news on Friday.

The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner took to social media to reveal that his dad, Bob Tebow, had passed away. He was 78. No cause of death was announced, but Bob had been battling Parkinson’s.

“Heaven ushered in a hero of the faith last night as my Dad was welcomed home!” Tebow posted on social media. “Many will say sorry for your loss but the truth is he’s not lost, we know exactly where he is. He’s home. Forever! I asked him last week what he looked forward to most about Heaven, and he simply said, ‘Jesus.’

“He couldn’t wait to see Jesus face to face. Praise God that his wait is over. Death has been swallowed up in victory. He’s healed and whole now. So we don’t mourn as those with no hope. See you soon Dad!”

Tebow revealed his dad’s Parkinson’s diagnosis back in 2016, stating the news shifted his priorities and that he planned to spend more time with his father.

“Praying for you and the family Tim,” former NFL QB Robert Griffin III replied.

“What a beautiful, faith-filled tribute. 🙏 Praying for comfort and strength for you and your family,” another fan wrote.

“Praying for your family sir. You’re truly an inspiration!” another fan stated.

“I am so sorry for your loss. Holding you and your family close in my thoughts,” one user remarked.

“God bless you and your family as you/they work through the grieving process. It’s a blessing to know that your Dad is with Jesus now. Had the same experience last year when Mom passed. She was 98 and ready to meet Jesus too. 🙏🏻” another user posted.

Tebow’s wife Demi paid tribute to her late father-in-law in a separate Instagram post, in which she thanked him for the role he played in raising her husband and teaching him to be strong in his faith.

“I didn’t get to know the big, strong, tough, character-building man so many speak of,” NFL Fans Sending Prayers to Former Broncos QB Tim Tebow. “I got to know the gentle grandpa… the one who loved ice cream, a good laugh and never met a dog he didn’t like (and who was far too easy on me for marrying his youngest son – for that I’m thankful)

“I am grateful for the man who raised the love of my life. The man who shaped him to be strong yet humble, courageous yet kind, bold yet deeply compassionate… a protector, a leader, and above all, a man who loves God and loves people well.”
