During the preseason, quarterback Jaxson Dart managed to turn more heads with his stellar play. As he prepares for his rookie campaign with the New York Giants, he’s quietly emerged as an interesting target in fantasy football.
Across three appearances in the preseason, Dart showed a glimpse of his potential in the NFL. He completed 32 of his 47 passing attempts, racking up 372 yards and three touchdowns. The first-round pick also displayed the ability to be a threat on the ground, rushing for over 50 yards.
Since training camp got underway, there has been endless discourse about the Giants giving Dart the reins in year one. With the move being expected at some point, the young QB does have some value as it pertains to fantasy.

Fantasy expert lists Giants QB Jaxson Dart as ‘deep sleeper’
Ahead of the final weekend before the regular season begins, Yahoo Sports’ Justin Boone broke down multiple sleeper picks at his position. While discussing quarterbacks, Dart was among the names he tossed out as a “deep sleeper.”
“The Giants’ first-round pick looked the part of a future franchise quarterback in the preseason and that future might be coming sooner than expected,” Boone wrote. “In addition to completing 68% of his passes for 372 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions, Dart also rushed six times for 52 yards and a score. That production on the ground could make for a sneaky fantasy option when he gets under center.”
Given his situation, even using a late-round pick on Dart is a bit of a gamble. Since training camp began, Brian Daboll has been adamant about Russell Wilson starting the year under center. While many expect him to take over at some point, it’s unclear when. Due to this uncertainty, Dart might make more sense as a name to monitor on the waiver wire instead of drafting.

The Giants are taking a slow approach with Dart, allowing him to spend some time learning the NFL games behind the scenes. That said, seeing that he’s their long-term option at center, Daboll has to toss him out there eventually.
Wilson is a viable option, but at the end of the day, he’s a one-year rental. With New York not looking to contend this year, Dart should get an extended run this season to start getting some experience under his belt.
With his role this season being a big question mark, Dart is more of a wild card fantasy pick than a sleeper.
