Heavy rain and whipping winds of up to 50 miles per hour are forecast to sock New York Sunday afternoon.

“It’s looking like an inch or two of rain, and it will be pretty gusty. We could see some periodic 30 to 40 mile per hour gusts throughout the city,” Fox Weather meteorologist Cody Braud told The Post Saturday.

“And closer to the coast, it could be upwards of 50 miles an hour. I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re put on a wind advisory for tomorrow.”

The showers will start around 3 or 4 p.m. on Sunday and might not let up until Monday morning.

The tri-state storm comes as deadly tornadoes have swept through the South and the Midwest, killing 16 people.

“It will be a couple of waves, we’ll get a secondary wave into the nighttime hours,” he said.

“There may be some lingering rain Monday morning, but it will be light.”

Southern New Jersey down to the Maryland, Washington, D.C. area could see even stronger winds.
