Pete Golding and the Ole Miss Rebels are having a great transfer portal season, but it hasn’t been without its twists and turns.

While they currently sit as the second-best transfer window team by signings per 247Sports, only behind new archrival Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers, Golding has lost some key starters during the process.

On Saturday, one of those vital pieces officially came off the board, as a starting wideout in Cayden Lee chose another SEC program to play for in 2026.

For Golding and Ole Miss fans, don’t worry, it wasn’t LSU.

Lee picked the Missouri Tigers as his new school for the upcoming year after playing in all 15 games for the Rebels during the most recent season, including all three College Football Playoff games.

A junior out of the state of Georgia, Lee had a step back in production from his breakthrough 2024 season, but was still an integral cog in the Ole Miss offense throughout the year.

He was key in almost beating the Miami Hurricanes in the semifinals to make it to the national title game, catching five receptions for 67 yards.

Overall, he had 635 receiving yards on the season with three touchdowns. While seen as a secondary or third wide receiver for the Rebels, his role should elevate moving over to Missouri, which needs a new top wide receiver.

Tigers senior wideout Kevin Coleman Jr. is projected to be taken in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh.

Lee hopes that the Tigers can do the same for him as they did for Coleman Jr. when he transferred to them last season, as he will look to have a breakout season as a leading target to make a case for himself in the 2027 draft.

The signing of Lee has mightily improved Missouri’s overall transfer portal ranking, bumping them into 19th place overall in the country in 247Sports’ standings.
