Donations continue to pour for Karmelo Anthony, surpassing $627,000 online shortly after a Texas jury convicted the teenager of first-degree murder Tuesday.

Dozens of donors contributed to a fundraiser after Anthony, 19, was found guilty Tuesday afternoon.

The campaign, which has goal of $1.39 million, continues to rake in money as the controversial trial touched racial lines — and sparked protests of system racism by Anthony supporters following the verdict.

Anthony, who is black, was sentenced to 35 years in prison on Monday for the fatal April 2, 2025 stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, who is white, at a track meet in Frisco.

The six-figure haul will pay for relocating the Anthony family, basic living costs, and essential security measures, according to organizers.

“This fundraiser has been established to provide comprehensive assistance to the Anthony family as they navigate the many challenges surrounding Karmelo’s case,” wrote Kala Hayes, Anthony’s mother, on the GiveSendGo page which launched on April 15, 2025, 13 days after the stabbing.

“While legal defense is a critical part of this journey, we want to make it clear that this fund is not solely dedicated to legal expenses.”

The top donation is from an anonymous source who forked over $3,000.

The high-profile fundraiser and its steady stream of donations has incensed many unsympathetic social media users.

“Karmelo Anthony’s family IS STILL RAISING MONEY,” wrote an angry X user.

“And people are donating even now.”

Many are calling for GiveSendGo to close the campaign.

“@GiveSendGo Karmelo Anthony is now guilty of murder in the first degree. … So are you going to shut his fundraiser down finally?” said an X user.
